We just returned from a short vacation to my parent's cabin in "The
Northwoods." The cabin is miles from anyone so it is very peaceful. It does not have running water or electricity, so it is pretty rustic, yet one of my favorite places to visit. The kids really enjoy it too. I wish we were able to go up more than once a year, but it is a lot of packing and hours of traveling so we normally just limit our trip to once a summer.
We went up on Wednesday and then the rest of my family came up on Friday. (my parents, sister, her fiancee and his daughter and our niece
Leighten) It was our first "family vacation" in a really long time. We had a great time fishing, having campfires and just relaxing. The weather was a bit cool, but only rained one afternoon.
The kids enjoyed the wildlife that we normally see when we go which was a couple deer, turtles, loon, and frogs. The newest members to our lake included a family of ducks and a wolf. Yes, that's right a wolf. Not that I didn't think they could exist up there, but actually seeing one was a different story. When Rick and I were walking on the dirt road leading to the cabin, Mr. Nature himself spotted some waste that was larger than the average deer might leave. His guess was that it was a wolf. When Lexi and Rick were out fishing, they actually saw the wolf walking in the woods near the lake. (ugh, I missed a picture opportunity) He (the wolf) didn't realize or care that they were out fishing, but it was enough to make Lexi a bit scared. (and me too) The
wood ticks were in fine form too..we are still finding them.
Ugh, Yuck! I have quite a few pics on here and the rest are on my
face book page.

Will...Will? Has anyone seen Will?
How does one bathe without running water and electricity? Why you heat water and bathe in a tote, that's how.
