First Communion....

Congratulations on your First Holy Communion Lexi! You looked beautiful today and we are SO proud of you. Today Lexi received her First Holy Communion at St. Gabriel's Church in Neenah. The children had a choice of four services to receive the sacrament and at the service Lexi chose today there were 14 others that joined her.
The children were asked to make banners with their parents and they were displayed at the end of the pews today.Lexi walking in to church this morning. On her special day she wanted me to straighten her hair, so we got up at 6:30 this morning and got rid of her "Lexi curls."
Lexi was asked to do the first reading. She was really nervous but did a great job.

Lexi also had her first communion with her good friend Alec Bartz. His parents, Jenny and Todd, are childhood friends of ours so it was nice they were able to be in the same class. You will notice that Lexi was wearing a locket in all of the photos. She was given this locket by her great-great Aunt Verna last weekend. She said Lexi's Nana (Great-Grandma Hamm) had given it to her (they are sisters) for her confirmation 62 years ago and now she was passing it on to Lexi. It was a very nice sentimental gift. Lexi and her Great-Great Aunt VernaAfter church the Radies/Schmidt clan went to a restaurant for lunch. We combined our little get together with the Bartz/Cerveny clan. Thought I would include a picture of Heather and I at our first communion...yikes! LOL

Spring Tulips...

I planted tulips for the first time last fall. They opened up this week so of course I had to take some pictures of them. :)These two look like they are hugging each other.

May Flowers...

Ahhh..May flowers. Another tradition I am passing down to my children. I can remember being a child and going with my Grandma and Great Aunt Verna to pick May flowers. I can remember picking large bouquets of the fragrant little flowers and hearing...pick from the bottom of the stem! :) I am not sure why they are called May flowers because generally they bloom in April and are done by the month of May. Last weekend we went out with my great Aunt Verna behind my parents house to see if any were blooming, but found very few. So Lexi and I went out again this weekend. We did find a few more, but we only managed to get a small bouquet. Lexi had so much fun trying to spot them. Will was more into running and playing with the large sticks..looking for werewolves.
Lexi came across a spot in the woods where my dad and uncles used to make maple syrup.
After a long day outdoors we sat down for "movie night." Will just got his popcorn and fell asleep just when the movie was beginning. :)

Happy Birthday Jim...

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all! We spent the morning looking for Easter baskets and then went out for brunch with my mom's family and Rick's family, there were 30 of us all together. It was nice to see everyone and of course the time went way too fast. Below are some pics of our day.
Lexi and Will following the egg trails at Grandma and Papa's House. My mom got Lexi and Will these big stuffed animals. Too cute..The kids spent Thursday night and Friday night with Grandma Joanne and Papa Ron this week (thank you again for the nice day to myself!!!). One of the fun things they did was to make these cute wreaths out of peeps. They made one for Rick and I and also Grandma Jeannie.Leighten and Lexi throwing the dyed Easter eggs. This is a tradition Heather and I passed down to my kids. When we were kids we used to take the dyed Easter eggs and smash them against the rocks in the woods once Easter was done. (can't do that in the city..LOL) Lexi loves to carry on this tradition..she couldn't wait to do it this morning.
All dressed and ready to go...
